Kenyans warned against electing outgoing governors to the senate

Kenyan voters have been warned against electing to the senate a number of of outgoing governors.

Nairobi South Member of the County Assembly Waithera Chege has raised a red flag on the outgoing governors, warning that they are out to protect themselves from audit reports covering their tenure.

” I have seen billboards of several outgoing governors with pending integrity files at the senate running to be elected as senators in the coming elections.How will they audit reports covering their tenure? Waithera questioned.

In a message posted on her social media platforms,she says that in the event they are elected,they are likely to be elected as chair of Public Accounts and Public Investment Committees that interrogate audit reports on counties prepared every financial year by the Auditor General.

” Parliament should move with speed and propose a law barring such characters for from contesting the senate seat,”

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga, Former Mandera Governor Ali Roba and his Uasin Gishu counterpart Jackson Mandago are some of the outgoing governors running for senate.
