There is a lot of speculation as to what are the reasons that led to the Kenya Forest Service Board sending Chief Conservator of Forests Julius Kamau on compulsory leave until January 2022.

Insiders said the CCF was sent on compulsory leave to pave way for investigations into his “style of leadership”
Some employees said the CCF has been preferring to work with Junior officers in some departments and ignoring seniors.

Others said the CCF is “high handed and feels too powerful.”

“He took some officers to the RECCE training grounds in Ruaraka. They are the officers who are giving him 24-hour close protection and even escorting him in two vehicles. The men are scary since they have been issued with modern weapons and are glad in Balaclavas and dark glasses,” said one of the staff.

The KFS employees wondered why he should be sent on compulsory leave yet annual leave is always procedural.

They said the KFS Board Chairman Peter Kinyua has appointed Monica Kalenda to act.

CCF Kamau was appointed on April 26th, 2019.
Insiders are opposed to the renewal of his term and wat him to exit the institution.
