Kiambu DG Designate Clarion Call to Women

Kiambu Deputy Governor Designate Her Excellency June Waweru has called  upon women to support their colleagues who are seeking leadership mandate on August 9th polls.

Her Excellency June Waweru is deputising Kiambu Governor James Nyoro who is seeking a second term after successfully steering Kiambu for two-and-half years.

In a phone interview with The Times, her excellency lauded the move by various candidates including Baba The 5th Raila Amolo Odinga for believing in women’s capability which was evident when he elevated Martha Karua to be his running mate.

“We require women in both tiers of Government – the National Government and the County Government.”

June also thumbed up other Kiambu Gubernatorial aspirants for nominating women as their deputies for the upcoming general elections.

“As a woman leader I’m very grateful for the kind gestures towards women through their nominations to top offices. I’m very happy that the two thirds gender rule will come to fruition in the upcoming polls.”

She called upon the general public to support women in their bid and not to bring them down. “Let us all do peaceful campaigns without tarnishing each others name. Do not ridicule women nor insult them. Accord them the respect, dignity and decorum they deserve,” she said.

Her Excellency Deputy Governor Designate, lauded the several achievements of Kiambu Governor Dr. James Nyoro which he tirelessly achieved in his term in office. This time round we want to empower Kiambu people and put money in their pockets.

“In just two and half years our Governor has demonstrated servant leadership through construction of roads, water provision for all, empowerment of women and youth, expansion and equipping hospitals, enhancing the status of markets and his firm stance against corruption. Recently we launched the Jiinue fund which aims at empowering the youths by easy access to credit with minimal interest rates. It will also uplift the women who when given a chance, they are able to nurture and multiply ten or even hundred-fold.”
