Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu lauds Cooperative Bank of Kenya after he received 5 scholarship opportunities for needy students who did their KCPE in 2022 from the financial institution.

The scholarship forms were handed over to the Governor by Jane Gikara, the Nanyuki Co-operative Bank branch Manager.

Under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Co-operative Bank has been able to support over 8412 bright and needy students in their secondary education across the country through an all expenses paid, scholarship kitty.

The Governor appreciated the generosity of the bank and assured them that the 5 students will be selected in accordance to the bank’s guidelines. He also called upon more corporates to invest in the education of children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds in Laikipia county, saying this will go a long way in bolstering the county’s efforts to support access to quality education.

“I cannot appreciate Cooperative Bank, enough. On behalf of Laikipia county, we are thankful for this very kind gesture. We promise to follow each of your guidelines in selecting beneficiaries of the five scholarship slots you have awarded us. Because of the expense of education and the economic standing of our people, we ask other cooperates to extend a hand to the needy,” Governor Irungu said.

The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy Reuben Kamuri, the County Secretary, Koinange Wahome, Stephen Kisorio, Ag CECM Education and other senior county officials.
