Mombasa county to clear KRA bills in three months

Mombasa county government has made adequate arrangements to settle pending bills with the Kenya Revenue  Authority [KRA ] in three months.

Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir said once the county has cleared pending salaries with it’s employees it will be able to clear outstanding bills with the KRA.

He said he has made arrangements with concerned parties aided by Mombasa senator Mohamed Faki over the clearance of the pending bills.          

“The county government has already paid KRA Sh 365 million against the authority’s pending bills,” he pointed out.

Abdulswamad disclosed the county government has already made arrangements with some financial institutions to the tune of 240 million.

He was speaking during the launch of Mombasa ni yangu program famously known as county casual workers at the Treasury Square garden in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.

The governor said he is in talks with other financial institutions to work out modalities on how to settle the county government’s pending bills.

 Abdulswamad acknowledged he has a challenging task ahead of him to settle pending bills at the county government.

He added he is optimistic he will clear the pending bills with contractors and suppliers at the county government level.

“I have given instructions that the payment of the pending bills be will subject to availability of funds at the county,” he pointed out.
