It was all systems go as governor elects took oath of office on Thursday across different counties to officially resume office.

Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka looked acutely aware of the miracle that comes with second chances as he was ceremoniously handed over the flag and tools of power.

Lusaka who served as first Bungoma County governor during the experimental stage of devolution in the country, was for the second time sworn in at Kibabii University grounds in a colourful event graced by top dignitaries in the region.

Former governor Wycliffe Wangamati in his speech congratulated his long time rival and challenged him to fulfil his pledges to the people who against all odds came out in large numbers to vote.

“Even if we didn’t win, I’m glad we were part of enriching the conversation of what the community wanted, my sincere gratitude to all residents for maintaining peace throughout this electioneering period,” Wangamati noted.

Lusaka in his acceptance speech assured  residents of the rebirth of a new county and swore to uphold his oath despite evident excitement of recapturing his seat amidst prevailing  hot political temperatures.

Lusaka who together with his Deputy Jennifer Mbatiany were sworn in by high court judge Lady Justice Roseline Wendo, vowed never to lose focus in his quest to ensure a corruption free and accountable government.

Moses Wetangula who was also in attendance acknowledged the will power of Bungoma youths for expressing their undying desire for change by massively voting for Kenya Kwanza.

“Our youths here are a special kind; despite my focus on national politics, you ensured to work with the aspiring youth politicians and made an unforgettable mark by the number of votes casted,” Wetangula reiterated.

Among his top manifesto, Lusaka pledged to put up a balanced advisory team to ensure collective responsibility among his officers hence a stable and corruption free government.
