Nairobi’s Landimawe based MacMillan Queens and Murang’a Queens ladies football team have appealed for funds to enable them shape up adequately ahead of the coming women league season.

MacMillan Queens head coach Joseph Ochieng and his Murang’a Queens founder Edwin Wainaina observed that to maintain and sustain a team without a sponsor is a clear recipe for eminent collapse.

Speaking at the Nairobi City Stadium after engaging in a friendly match, Ochieng said running a team single handedly is not a laughing matter.

Landimawe side were made to struggle before edging their Murang’a counterparts 2-1 with goals coming from Lucy Nelima and Diana Achieng. The Murang’a side scored their consolation goal through speedy Shirleen Njeri.

Ochieng said “We ave just been promoted from the regional league to Division one Nairobi West branch. We are desperately looking for a sponsor to enable us meet our travelling logistics, paying referees, hiring of playgrounds and paying our players winning incentives to motivate them among other challenges. Any assistance can be channeled to 0716 248 215”

Murang’a Queens founder Edwin Wainaina has however praised his players for showing maturity and discipline.

Wainaina who is assisted by Dominic Wanjala lauded Sportspesa Chief Executive Ronald Karauri for helping his team by donating uniforms, and a cash token of Ksh.30,000 recently.

“We still need financial help since we don’t have a sponsor. Those wishing to help us can do so through 0712 625 388.” he quipped.
