Multi-Agency Team Resolves Dongo Kundu Queries

A forum that brought together Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) management and officials from the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA), the National Land Commission (NLC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held at KPA headquarters in Mombasa county.

The government is expected to see the operationalization of the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) at Dongo Kundu in Mombasa County very soon.
Investment Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan said the list of investors of the proposed project which had queries has been sorted out.
He pointed out a multi-agency team has resolved the queries on the list of the project park and in the next few months the issue will be a thing of the past.
“The investors will soon flow in and set up the project,” he added.
Abubakar added the project’s connection to the Island will be ready in the next two months.
He was addressing the media during the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA), the National Land Commission (NLC) and officials from the Japan International Cooperation (JICA) forum held at KPA headquarters in Mombasa county.
The PS told the media the contractor is to move to the site as soon as possible to commence work on access to the berth road.
Abubakar said the access road to the airport from the south coast will be ready by May this year.
He said the move to ensure the project is operational as soon as possible is in line with the Kenya Kwanza administration so that the electorate can enjoy the benefits of the Special Economic Zone.
“We are on a fact-finding mission to prepare for the operationalization of the project,” he pointed out.
