National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has been challenged to  speak out on the effects muguka.
Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) party Secretary General Lucas Maitha wants NACADA to give its stand on the muguka debate.
He wondered why NACADA has gone silent on the matter and it is not active like when it was under former Naivasha MP John Mututho.
“As government we demand to hear from them on the status of muguka and whether it’s a drug or not,” he said.
Maitha said they would love to hear from the authority apart from hearing from other quarters.
He spoke during a media briefing at Hotel Sapphire in Mombasa county. Rabai lawmaker Anthony Kenga and his Ganze counterpart Charo Kazungu were in attendance.
The PAA Secretary General argued NACADA has a constitutional mandate to advice the government and the Head of State.
Maitha told the media the party has vowed to stand with three governors in the coast region who have banned the  stimulant in their respective counties.
He added they declined to have Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi as an arbitrator in the muguka menace.
“We want President William Ruto to handle the muguka menace matter and we are not ready to listen to Linturi on the debate,” he pointed out.
