The newly elected Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Ken Ng’ondi has today issued a communication which revoked a list of leaders read to the House at its first sitting on Thursday, 29 September.

Ng’ondi claims to have been misguided to convey the communication.

According to the County’s Standing Orders, no other business is to be transacted during the first sitting under the gazette notice except as detailed in Standing Order 4.

“From the foregoing, it’s evident that communication so relayed by the chair had no basis on the law for the following reasons; the chair was not properly in office hence incapable of receiving any communication nor providing the authority for the Clerk to act on it, the communication did not originate from the party and did not constitute business for the day under the gazette so published,” read the communication.

Speaking to the Media on Friday, Ng’ondi said the offices remain vacant until an official communication from the party formally presents it’s list of leaders according to Standing Orders.

The letter purported to be from Azimio coalition had Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok as its Majority leader deputised by Laini Saba MCA John Musila.

Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto to serve as the Majority whip and be deputized by Upper Savannah MCA Elijah Stazo Omungala.

Nominated MCA Catherine Okoth to represent Azimio at the Nairobi County Assembly Service Board while Moses Ogeto to replace Imwatok who served as Minority whip in the last assembly.
