Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris leads 40 delegates from Nairobi in benchmarking the NGAAF projects at the coast

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris is leading 40 delegates from her county in benchmarking the National Government Affirmative Action Fund [NGAAF] project and programme in the coast region.
In her second tour after Kwale county the visiting delegation traversed the entire Mombasa county where they were hosted by Passaris’Mombasa counterpart Asha Hussein alias Ashu and also paid a courtesy call on Mombasa county governor Hassan Ali Joho.
The Nairobi Women boss urged members of the society to be serious with Savings and Credit Co-operatives [Sacco] to uplift their standard of living.
She said Sacco is an eye opener for economic empowerment and urged them not to shy away from the societies.
“Let sacco officials undergo training to enable them manage the societies properly and effectively,” she said.
The Nairobi Women Representative called for an exchange program among the societies to improve the running of Sacco affairs.
Passaris refuted claims one can get wealth from the assistance of somebody else arguing working hard is the secret to success.
She called for discipline in the servicing of loans acquired with terms and references and encouraged them to keep on being members of the societies.
“Let the societies make use of government grants for economic empowerment,” she added.
On her part Ashu announced she will construct a safe house for gender violence victims in Mombasa county.
She added she has secured land with title deeds to construct a house for victims of gender violence.
She was speaking during the opening of Changamwe Maendeleo Sacco office in Changamwe constituency, Mombasa county.
She insisted development is a step for change which moves in a slow pace and needs a lot of patience.
In his welcome remarks the local legislator Omar Mwinyi emphasized that development is a process and not an event and called for patience.
“The way for development is collective responsibility and tolerance to foster and hasten projects,” he pointed out.
