The incoming Governor of Murang’a County Irungu Nyakera is still rolling out programs aimed at uplifting the status of farmers in the agricultural rich county.

Mr Nyakera is vying on a Farmer’s Party ticket.

He shared his vision for Murang’a with this writer:

“My vision for Murang’a County is anchored on 9 key covenants which include: Leadership partnership, Good governance, Farmers economic empowerment, Youth economic & Political empowerment, Women economic empowerment, Business growth, Fighting Drug and alcohol abuse, Better healthcare and Education.

It is my strongest desire to realize our collective and very determined vision to make Murang’a Kenya’s Number one, the county of riches.”

Armed with a bank of information, know-how and cutting edge eloquence, skill and tact, he is undoubtedly giving the other contestants a run for their money.

He earned tremendous reputation owing to his selfless efforts to amplify the voice of the farmer especially tea and coffee farmers by ensuring they get minimum guaranteed returns of their toil.

“Today I gifted Wahundura Coffee Factory with a coffee drying bed, marking the 40th factory we have given drying beds to. To scale up our commitments to coffee farmers, on Thursday this week we are starting benchmarking tours to successful Coffee Societies in Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Embu.

The first seven societies to be taken for benchmarking will be Kanyenyaini (Kangema), Wahundura (Mathioya), Wanjengi (Kiharu), Njora (Kigumo), Kabati (Kandara), Kinogerama (Gatanga) and Saba Saba (Maragwa),” the brilliant yet down-to-earth young Nyakera full of ambition said.

Let’s make the next five years about emancipating farmers.
