Karen Nyamu is currently ahead of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in the Nairobi County Senator race, according to a survey done by Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA).

Results released today, indicate that Karen – who is United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) aspirant – comes second as the most preferred Senate candidate ahead of other candidates including Sifuna who has also declared interest in the seat under the ODM party ticket.

TIFA says that if elections were held today, Karen is likely to get four percent of the Nairobi votes ahead of Sifuna who is likely to get only three percent of the votes.

Current Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja who has declared interest in the city’s governor seat is ahead of all of them.

The polls say that eight percent of Nairobians still prefer the incumbent as their preferred Senator in the coming elections.

Tifa further revealed that several Nairobi residents have not yet decided on who they want to be their next senator.

“Majority of the respondents are undecided about whom to vote for as Senator of Nairobi County. The fact that some respondents are expressing a preference for the current senator (Sakaja), indicates that most voters will need more clarity as to what all the candidates want before they decide,” TIFA said in its report.
