President Kenyatta leads Kenyans in mourning the demise of veteran Gusii politician Simeon Nyachae

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday led the nation and several other leaders in mourning the death of Kisii veteran politician Simeaon Nyachae.

The Head of State Mourned Nyachae who passed on at Nairobi Hospital as a as an icon of Kenya’s progress through the years and that the late Nyachae’s successful transition from public service to the world of business and politics was a demonstration that focus and hard work pays.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Mzee Simeon Nyachae, a distinguished son of Kenya, a friend and a man whose contribution to the making of the Kenyan nation will remain with us for eternity,” the President said of the late Nyachae.

President Kenyatta further eulogized Nyachae as a progressive, selfless and steadfast leader who was genuinely passionate about public service, politics and uniting people in a common cause.

He further said that Nyachae was s gifted administrator, entrepreneur and politician of large intellect, Mzee Nyachae was vocal and a tenacious debater whose domination in our country’s political stage will be dearly remembered.

“He was a passionate, indefatigable and forthright operator whose affable disposition and wit earned him friends and foes alike,” President Kenyatta also said.

He added that the fallen former Abagusii Community spokesperson was a philanthropist, who took pleasure in helping the needy in society.

“I recall with nostalgia my many interactions with Mzee Nyachae over the years. As an elder and friend, Mzee Nyachae always had a word of wisdom and encouragement for me. Many will remember and miss Mzee Nyachae’s warm personality and especially his hearty and infectious laughter,” President Kenyatta recalled.

He sent his heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the Nyachae family, their loved ones and the people of Kisii County during the tough time.

Former President Mwai Kibaki in his condolence message said Nyachae was a “sure-footed bureaucrat who served three presidents with distinction.”

Kibaki further said that Nyachae’s adeptness as an enterepreneur was as remarkable as his fortitude.

Deputy President William Ruto also mourned with the late Nyachae family.

The DP described Nyachae as a progressive, selfless and steadfast leader who was genuinely passionate about public service, politics and uniting people in a common cause.

He further eulogized Nyachae as a gifted administrator, entrepreneur and politician of large intellect, who was vocal and a tenacious debater whose domination in the country’s political stage will be dearly remembered.

“He was a passionate, indefatigable and forthright operator whose affable disposition and wit earned him friends and foes alike. He was a philanthropist, who took pleasure in helping the needy in society. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the Nyachae family, their loved ones and the people of Kisii County during this tough time. Rest In Peace, Mzee Nyachae,” Ruto said.

Another leader that sent his condolences to the Nyachae family was ODM leader Raila Odinga who mourned Nyachae as a long serving career civil servant.

“My heartfelt and sincere condolences go out to the family of former Cabinet Minister, MP, and long-serving career civil servant Simeon Nyachae. The Abagusii community has lost one of its most illustrious sons. May He Rest In Eternal Peace,” Raila said.

Nyachae’s son Charles who is a judge of the East African Court of Justice said his father passed on early Monday after a long illness.

He passed on at 88 at the Nairobi hospital after battling a long illness.

He served in the governments of founding President late Jomo Kenyatta, the late Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.
