African scholars have been challenged to work closely with their leaders to define the continent’s future towards attaining its full potential.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja says scholars in Africa should continuously focus on priorities that enable the continent to achieve ideals for equal opportunities to the citizens.

Governor Sakaja was speaking in London Sunday, 26 March, 2023 where he made a keynote address at this year’s London School of Economics (LSE) Africa Summit 2023.

“Today it is you, African scholars working with us African leaders, on whose shoulder rests the onus of defining our own trajectory”, Sakaja told the participants drawn from various countries.

He noted that it was demanding for African scholars to work with the leaders because they collectively owe it to themselves, the children and to the patriots who came before them.

Nairobi governor explored the need for African leaders and scholars to ensure they work continuously towards realizing the desired ideals and never to stop until citizens on the continent had equal opportunities.

The annual LSE Summit is a student – led conference that brings together policy makers, leaders and researchers to share ideas.

This year’s theme of the two day event was titled: The Now and Next Generation.

Governor Sakaja said: “We must not stop, we must not rest, we must remain steadfast and vigilant until we achieve the dreams of those who have been in this movement before us”.

“I am confident that generational change in our leadership is not a dream but a reality in the offing”, he noted.
