Sen Mwaura appears before Jubilee Party disciplinary commitee

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has today honored summons by Jubilee party disciplinary Committee and appeared before it.

The Committee on Monday summoned Senator Mwaura over alleged violation of party Constitution.

In a charge sheet released then, the party accused the senator of pledging allegiance to another political party contrary to Jubilee’s code of conduct.

“On December 31, 2020,in Msambweni Constituency, Senator Isaac Mwaura Maigua, acted contrary to the conduct expected of a Jubilee member when he publicly announced his new-found political allegiance to the United Democratic Alliance party during the homecoming party of the newly-elected Msambweni legislator Feisal Bader,” the charge sheet read.

The party also faulted Mwaura for wearing another party’s branding material other than that of Jubilee.

In a complaint lodged by Jubilee Chairman Nelson Dzuya, the party is seeking a disciplinary action against Mwaura for alleged procaiming that the party is ‘dead’ through Kenya Diaspora Media USA, and through his Twitter handle and during an interview on a local TV station.

Several Jubilee party members allied to Deputy President’s Tanga Tanga faction escorted Mwaura to Jubilee Part Headquarters located in Pangani Nairobi in show of solidarity.

Those that escorted the embattled Senator include Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General Hon. Caleb Kositany, Lang’ata Mp Hon. Nixon Korir, South Mugirango Mp Hon. Sylvanus Osoro, Belgut Mp Hon. Nelson Koech and nominated Senator Millicent Omanga.

Mwaura had earlier alleged that Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe and Chairman Nelson Dzuya had already declared his expulsion even before the trial is done.

This comes after he was captured on video addressing Githurai residents ahead of a visit by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Senator Mwaura is accused of incitement to violence as well as disloyalty to the Jubilee party which nominated him to the Senate.

The Committee chair Lumatete Muchai received a complaint from Jubilee Chairman Nelson Dzuya.

“…pledging allegiance to another party, acting in a manner that is disloyal to Jubilee party and contravening the Jubilee party code of conduct,” Dzuya’s complaint mentioned.

In a separate complaint, the ODM party also filed a complaint about the Senator with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

On Monday, the Jubilee top brass vowed to restore party discipline within its rank and file, with officials insisting that nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura will serve as an example.
