Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko will have his impeachment fate decided by a Senate full plenary and not by an 11 member committee as earlier reported by sections of the media.

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka said that he will gazette 17th & 18th of December as the days to investigate the matter.

The Senate resolved to hear Sonko’s case in plenary after Majority leader failed to move the motion seeking to form 11 member special committee.

Earlier on, some sections of the media reported that the Senate Business Committee had released the proposed names of members to the committee before the Senate convened a special sitting to consider the matter.

The proposed members to the committee were to be, according to the reports in some media outlets, Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Charles Kibiru (Kirinyaga), Hargura Godana (Marsabit), Abdullahi Ali (Wajir), Alice Milgo (nominated), Christine Zawadi (nominated), Okongo Omogeni (Nyamira), Mohammed Faki (Mombasa), Judith Pareno (nominated), Petronilla Were (nominated) and Fred Outa (Kisumu).

Sonko is accused of abuse of office, a gross violation of the Constitution and gross misconduct.
