The government believes success of the digitization in the country is a combined effort of all stakeholders.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said the digitization of a country requires consolidated effort by the government, the private sector and the society.

He added the government has already taken significant steps towards digitization.

“The government has many future plans and we are therefore calling to stress the facilitation of digitization,” he pointed out.

Musalia said the digitization is among the paramount duties of state agencies which is already a testimony.

He was speaking at the Connected Summit 2023 at Leisure Lodge hotel in Kwale county. He insisted the government’s role is in enhancing the digital economy.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary reminded participants during the four-day summit that digitization of the country is a priority of his work and that of President William Ruto.

Musalia pointed out the government is still to achieve many tasks and goals arguing that this will underpin the relevant and necessary policy frameworks.

He added that this will be on governance structures, and where necessary, legal infrastructure.

“The government is committed to providing each person with every support required for our partnership to deliver our mandate of uplifting livelihoods,” he added.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary told the participants during The Connected Summit2023 Conference under the theme, “Endless Opportunities Shaping our Future” that in order to leverage the new opportunities there is need to create a new domain of governments, the private sector and the general society.

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo said during his key note address that he appreciates the state-of-the-art in ICT.

He argued this is not just in the country but across the globe saying  that this is to get a place on the global weighing scales of ICT and to determine the  weight, place, and worth.

We celebrate our achievements and we acknowledge the gaps and see opportunities to float new ideas,” he added.

Broadcasting and Telecommunication Principal Secretary Prof  Edward Kisiang’ani acknowledged the forum brings together Government actors such as the Communications Authority of Kenya which regulates Telecoms, Couriers, Postal Services and Broadcasting outfits.

He added the forum is an opportune time to network with investors from various sectors and address challenges to get viable solutions.

“This high-level summit is also an opportunity to brand Kenya and position it as an ICT investment destination and boost our country’s unique image in the global, regional and local level,” he pointed out.
