Ten-year-old Lukas Kampa wins golf tournament

TradeWinds Academy student Lukas Kampa won this year’s annual Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers & Caterers open golf tournament played at the weekend.

Ten-year-old Kampa managed to beat 160 golfers during the one-day tournament played at Nyali golf and country club in Mombasa county.

He posted 44 points before being crowned overall winner in the tournament which marked the cumulation of the 19th annual symposium which was organized by the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers [KAHC].

Playing off 24 handicap, Lukas Kampa, who is a grade 5 student from international school in south coast, managed to score 21 points on the first nine holes and 23 points on the second nine holes.

The day’s overall winner is second born from a family in the hospitality industry and a stakeholder in the tourism industry.

The men’s category award went to Justin Kaburu with 40 points playing off 26 handicap.

He managed to score18 points on the first nine holes and 22 points on the second nine holes before winning in the category.

Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers [KAHC] chief executive officer Mike Macharia presided over the awarding ceremony.

Simon Karemu won the men’s runners-up award after posting 39 points. Playing off 13 handicap he managed to score 20 points on first nine holes and 19 points on the second nine holes.
