There is no doubt that Raila Odinga is the next president- Sonko
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko believes that ODM leader Raila Odinga will emerge victorious in the August General elections.
Sonko has stated that he has immense respect to the former Prime Minister who he described as a great leader.
Sonko was speaking in Voi during a Wiper Party press conference where various leaders drummed support for party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be Odinga’s running mate in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
” There is no doubt that Raila is going to be the next president.That is beyond any doubt,” Sonko said.
Sonko has however called on Raila Odinga not to be misled by people around him to overlook Kalonzo in his choice of a running mate.
He said that Kalonzo is a national leader who has a huge following beyond the Kamba voting block.
” Kalonzo is not just a Kamba leader but a national leader.He has over 3.5 million votes,” Sonko added.
Sonko who has taken a Frontline role in Wiper Party affairs blamed the Raila secretariat and unknown people within the state for misleading Mr Odinga.
He narrated how back in 2010, some people around Mr Odinga misled him about the Makadara by elections where he(Sonko) was contesting the ODM party ticket.
” We went to Raila through the help of Mama Ida and his Son Fidel and when we got there,l told him that l wanted to participate in ODM nominations as a life member but he told me that people around him had already settled on Reuben Ndolo,” he explained
Sonko is contesting the Mombasa Gubernatorial seat on the Wiper Party ticket.
