Trade CS leads Kenyan delegation at 13th Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi
Kenya’s Investment, Trade, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano will lead Kenya’s delegation at the World Trade Organization’s 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi, UAE from today (February 26, 2024) to Thursday (February 29, 2024) aiming to foster equitable and sustainable agricultural practices globally.
The conference will focus on key trade-related policies including agriculture, fisheries subsidies, sustainable development, digital trade, and reforms to the existing multilateral trading system.
Miano will facilitate several deliberations at the Ministerial level, including meetings with the African Ministers of Trade, the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group, and the Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate.
She will also participate in conversations on Trade and Sustainable Development, Industrial Policy, and Trade and Inclusion.
At the bilateral level, Miano will consult with various Trade Ministers to enhance bilateral trade relations between their countries and Kenya.
The caucus aims to address contemporary challenges in the agriculture sector such as food security and trade-related distortions.
“Kenya will participate in several deliberations on existing frameworks including regional groups at the Ministerial level such as the African Ministers of Trade meeting; the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group Ministerial Meeting and the Second Meeting of the Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate.” Miano said.
At the bilateral level, the Cabinet Secretary will consult with several Ministers of Trade from several countries to enhance bilateral trade relations between them and Kenya.
The success of MC13 will underscore the importance of the multilateral trading system in addressing the interests of members—Kenya included—as they relate to trade and sustainable development.

Last week, the United Arab Emirates and Kenya concluded negotiations on a trade deal that would boost trade and investment ties between the two countries as the Gulf country expands its role across Africa.
