Various women leaders from across the political divide have welcome the Women’s Charter that was unveiled yesterday.

Yatta Parliamentary aspirant Annastacia Muthini Muendo has hailed the Charter signed by the Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto. The Kenya Kwanza Women Charter was Signed yesterday, at The Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi County.

During the launch Deputy President William Ruto pledged to make two thirds gender rule a reality should Kenya Kwanza form government after the 9th of August elections. Ruto added that women will be at the decision making table under his tenure.

Speaking Exclusively to The Times Online, the incoming Yatta MP underscored the several gains women stand to benefit from as enshrined in the Charter.

“In the Charter we have several gains as women. From revamping of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund, to nationwide enrolment of the NHIF to business incubation programs and so on. We are fully behind Dr. William Samoei Ruto,” Annastacia said.

“He also committed to actualise access to government procurement opportunities by ensuring that women-owned enterprises will automatically qualify for financing through the hustler fund,” she stated.

We are also delighted to see that the gender rule will be actualised.

“Further, he promised to ensure that the two-thirds gender rule is implemented in the first three months of his administration even as he stated that all government appointments will follow the gender law.”

Annastacia added, “Our party leader has also promised that he will develop a program that will see teenage mothers return to school. He pledged double funding for school feeding programs to encourage student intake.

Other key promises in the education sector include free sanitary towels for all girls and bursaries for girls taking science related courses in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.”

From the desk of The Times Online we wish Honorable Annastacia Muthini Muendo all the best in her endeavours.
