Youth Serving Organizations Officially Launch Consortium

15 Youth NGOs and grassroot movements on 24th June 2021 from 4pm launched a consortium dubbed YSO (Youth Serving Organizations).

Convenors of the the Consortium said it will offer alternative voice on politics, policy and public debate and opinion ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Under the umbrella banner of YSO and the clarion call of ‘Youth Together Under One Voice’ are Youth and Success Association, YASA, Dada Power, Siasa Place, Youth Alive, Emerging Leaders Foundation and Global Platform.

Others under the Consortium are Footprints for Change, Elgon Young Proffessionals, Tribeless Youth, Haki Africa and Africa Youth Trust, VSO, Pawa 254, Y Act and run for office.

The Consortium challenged more youth and youth groups to join them saying that it will be an avenue to give opportunities for all youth.
Youth Service Organization (YSO) educates youth to gain the skills that impact their own lives and communities, involves young people in the sustainable development work, and inspires them to take effective actions to act on their own behalf and their own terms as active citizens.

We develop and nurture talents, skills and knowledge of disadvantaged young people.

Representatives from the various of the Consortium who spoke at the launch offered that it will create opportunities, empower vulnerable youth and their communities to live with commitment to active citizenship through Education and community development.

‘This Consortium will educate, involve and inspire young people on their roles and to encourage them to promote and advocate for social inclusion we will also endevor to have the youth build sustainable and community health improvement in aimed at youth empowerment through providing disadvantaged young people tools and resources.’ A convenor from Youth Alive said.

In the one year the consortium has been in action, they say the challenges they have faced has been competition from other institutions but a more challenging one has been resources.
