A total of 85 percent of road accidents are due to human behavior  says PRSC

There is a total of 30 roadside stations along the northern corridor.

Pioneer Road Safety Consultants [PRSC] leader Amakobe Habel Okema said they have already established two roadside stations at  Dudu and Tororo in Uganda.

He insisted the statistics indicated that 85 percent of  road accidents are as a result of human behavior.

“The human behavior can be corrected through journey management,” he pointed out.

 Amakobe added the drivers have to take a rest to avoid fatigue and take charge of the management of their journey.

He was speaking during the launch of PRSC checkmate roadside station CCTV held at Jumeriah apartments in Nyali constituency, Mombasa county.      

The PRSC leader disclosed the importance of encoding the drivers program and best practice along the roads at all check points.

Amakobe said they are happy to be looking after over 15,000 truck drivers since inception in 2017 with the number remaining safe.

He added they are working in partnership with bus owners targeting over 250 bus drivers in the road safety program.

“The launch is in line with  the international remembrance of road accident victims,” he disclosed.

The PRSC Chief Executive Officer [CEO] cum Executive  Director reminded  the forum the theme of the launch is enhancing road safety through heightened journey management and road safety programs.

Amakobe who was flanked by National Transport Safety  Authority’s [NTSA]  Eva Mwangi and Kenya Transporters Association [KTA] chairman Newton Wang’oo said the study available on road traffic crushes claims the lives of nearly 1.3 million people are killed and 20-50 million are injured every year.   

He urged the road transport stakeholders to believe on its program promising them he is ready to set the foot on the road and he is committed to fill the gap.

“In 2017 we had set a milestone on the PRSC checkmate when an NTSA  team was involved,” he pointed out.
