The Governor of Bungoma, Kenneth Lusaka, has warned human rights advocates against bringing politics into the ministry of health.

According to Lusaka, the ministry of health is crucial and shouldn’t be messed with because it deals with lives.

“The ministry that deals with people’s lives shouldn’t be overly politicised; it’s a crucial division that ought to be protected at all costs,” he cautioned.

Speaking while inaugurating the County Hospital Boards at the County Headquarters on Thursday, the County Boss asked that the health department be conducted in a more professional way.

“Governance in health facilities is key to their success, and as such, the board plays an integral part in the growth of the ministry,” he observed.

He further urged the board to discharge its mandate through oversight to enhance the quality of healthcare service provision.

“Maintaining and improving the quality and safety of patient care in those health facilities falls under clinical governance; you must be at the forefront to enhance it as the board,” he challenged.

The County boss also called on the board to discharge its mandate through oversight to enhance the quality of healthcare service provision.

“You have been appointed to serve our people by overseeing the implementation of services; we expect that you serve us with a lot of dedication,” he reiterated.

The newly inaugurated board members are pegged to a three-year contract, renewable on performance.

“As per the Bungoma Health Act 2019, the term of office for the members appointed shall be three years, renewable once,” the principal noted.
