Communities Benefit From Charity Mission By Inter-Faith Organisation

David Owusu Ministries (DOM), an international and interdenominational Ministry, has completed a one-month-long charity mission in Kenya that saw the organization support various charitable initiatives including donations to Nairobi Hospice patients, support scholarships for needy students and fund an extension building at Mama Pendo Children’s Home.

The donations and support, spearheaded by DOM Care Department, saw the organization reach out to over 300 Kenyans from underprivileged backgrounds donating over Ksh1.3 million to help build them, liberate, and transform their lives.

 The DOM team visited Mama Pendo Children’s Home in Mathare slums where they commissioned the building of a new block at a cost of Ksh1.1 million.

The new block will see the increasing number of children admitted to the home comfortably accommodated.

Mama Pendo Children’s Home was established in March 2015 by Mary Njeru and has continued to offer a home to destitute children in Mathare and surrounding areas.

 At the Nairobi Hospice, the DOM Ministries staff not only ministered to the patients but also donated foodstuffs and toiletries in the presence of the Nairobi Hospice CEO Dr. Asaph Kinyanjui and other staff.

The patients mostly come from informal settlements like Dandora, Kibra, Kawagware and Korogoco among other areas.

 Speaking during the event at Nairobi Hospice, the DOM President, Apostle David Owusu, said, “This visit was to echo the words of God, the Bible tells us that we are to feed the hungry, welcome strangers and visit the sick with help and ministering care.

As DOM, we are an organization that not only looks at impacting people spiritually but touching all aspects of a person’s life.

We reach out to the needy and less privileged in the society through visiting them, donating items, and supporting them through their life”, added Apostle David.

 Dr Asaph Kinyanjui CEO of Nairobi Hospice appreciated the support they received from Apostle David and DOM family to ensure their patients have food supply and spiritual care to enable them cope with the numerous challenges they are facing.

  “Your support is very timely since our patients have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and not able to engage in meaningful economic activities.”

He continued by saying, “the consideration that DOM did to partner with Nairobi Hospice has greatly impacted the quality of life of the community they serve. He urged the ministry to continue with this generosity and caring for the community,” added the CEO.

 DOM also expanded their scholarship program that has been running for the past two years and focuses on sponsoring brilliant students from poor background all through primary school to university.

The student’s tuition fees, boarding fees and upkeep are all catered for. This month they added Caleb Mutua who is being fully sponsored to Aguthi Secondary School in Nyeri County.

 All activities were held in strict adherence to the Ministry of Health COVID protocols to ensure that all present are kept safe.
