Corruption Deeply Rooted In Ministry Of Health

corruption remains a major challenge in attaining universal health coverage as it tops in hospitals and health facilities when seeking health care services according to Ethics and Anticoruption commission report on corruption and unethical conduct in Kenya released today at a Nairobi hotel.

Speaking to journalists after a the launch of the report,health cabinet secretary Susan Nakumicha wafula has said so deeply is the corruption rooted that her letter inviting EACC to investigate alledged corruption at her docket was never delivered to EACC offices.

The report conducted in 24 counties revealed a number of malpractice in identification of projects, inflation of cost,high level of favourism, bribery, conflict of interest, payment of substandard projects and missing documents in project files as major loopholes for corruption.

In a bid to end corruption the new board of KEMSA to be inaugrated tomorrow Thursday comprise of very competent members lead by Dr Andrew Mulwa who takes over as the new CEO of the troubled medical supplies Authority boss and whose score card at Makueni county where he previously served as health CEC speak volumes.

CS Nakumicha has said those sacked was after internal investigations which revealed anomalies in the tendering process and advertising that almost costed Kenya the Global funding loss in the mosquito net scandal.
