The the education sector is struggling to recover from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Teachers  Service Commission[TSC] chairman Jamleck Muturi said just like in other countries across the world the education sector is on a recovery path from the ravages of the pandemic.

He added that it is regrettable that the sector lost teachers, principals and secretariat staff to COVID 19.

‘’But against this backdrop we have triumphed and have brought the sector to full recovery,” he pointed out.

Jamleck said the Commission will continue supporting education stakeholders to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

He was speaking during the closing ceremony of the 18th Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association [KEPSHA] national annual conference at Sheikh Zayed Children Welfare Centre in Mombasa County.

The TSC chairman added the government is determined to fully recover from the pandemic to enable every learner to access quality education.

Jamleck reiterated the annual delegates conference comes at a time when the nation and other countries of the world are on the path to recovery from the devastating effects of the deadly disease.

He reminded the almost 10,000 delegates at the port of city that it has been hectic two years for learners, teachers and headteachers who were put through condensed school terms to recover time lost when schools closed for nearly one year in 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

‘’I wish to thank all head teachers and teachers in our public learning institutions for their dedication and selflessness in delivering the just concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the grade six Kenya Primary School Assessment (KPSEA) examinations,” he pointed out.

The TSC boss said the one week conference comes at a time when the education sector in this

country is undergoing fundamental reforms.

“Your conference theme, ‘Managing the transition of Competency-Based Carriculum for the effective nurturing of each learner’s potential’ is very apt and captures the critical issues of today,” he said.
