We can be self sufficient and even export the excess abroad. Lamu can be a major export hub like it used to be. It’s paramount to equip farmers with basic inputs such as seeds and fertilizers.

Under the pillar of tourism, this can give us a big catch. This key sector has ripple effect to all other sectors of the economy and consequently spur economic growth of our region. Our economy will shape up if we uplift the sector and work in synergy with other sectors.

The other key area of focus is LAPSET. This is indeed geared towards making Lamu the investment hub for the greater Eastern Africa region. It will also be the gateway therefore creating a lot of employment especially for the youths .

“Why is Mudavadi with his Amani National Congress giving chance to someone with a questionable past in terms of land misappropriation? This person (Abu Kassim Ahmed) has a criminal record who should not be allowed to vie? He is the architect of a land cartel that benefited from more than 500,000 hectares of our land in Lamu? This should not happen because he is likely spoil my votes and that of Governor Issa Timamy”Finally, on the Ninth August Mr Rishad, the incoming Member of Parliament for Lamu West urged the people of Lamu West to make the right decision because it will be binding for the next five years.
