The leadership of the Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Kenya (FEICCK) together with other Umbrella bodies and other denominations in Kenya have settled on Deputy President William Ruto as their choice for the Presidency in the August General Election.

Addressing the media from a Nairobi Hotel on Friday, the FEICCK leadership led by their Chairman Bishop Samuel Njiriri, General Secretary Bishop David Thagana and Apostle Isaac Mwangi, they said they settled on Ruto as he is God-fearing and he is genuinely concerned about the welfare of the Kenyan people.

‘As Christians and Church leaders, we recognize that e have a serious role and mandate to guide our people and educate them so that they can make the right decisions in line with the Christian teachings. We, therefore, decided that we shall not remain neutral on a matter that is serious to God and to our people. In this regard, we are asking our to elect a President and leaders who are known to be part of us. Leaders who fear God and respect our faith,’ Bishop Njiriri said.

FEICCK also said that they will go to their churches and persuade their congregants to elect Ruto as the next President as he Is not only God-fearing but also prayerful, genuinely cares for the poor, and has the economic agenda together with his team for the country.

The Federation also appealed to Ruto to consider choosing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru as his presidential running mate saying that she is equal to the task owing to her past track record.

‘Besides being female, which is very important, Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru is a smart, intelligent, strategic, and youthful leader who will represent the interests of women, youth and other ordinary Kenyans. We are very clear that Kenya needs a female Deputy President now and Ms Waiguru more than fits the bill,’ Bishop Njiriri added.
