The tourism sector is expected to record a major boost with the arrival of Logo Hope, the world’s largest floating bookfair, to dock at the port of Mombasa.

The vessel’s advance preparation team leader Constanza Figueroa said the aim of the visit is to share knowledge and hope and help the community within the county.

She disclosed it’s the first time the vessel will be docking at the port of Mombasa.

“In 2005 the sister vessel, Douluos, had docked at the port city with thousands of visitors on board,” she pointed out.

Constanza said the vessel is on its way to Oman and Seychelles before it arrives at the coastal city.

She was addressing journalists ahead of the vessel’s arrival at the port during a media briefing held at Inchcape Shipping Services offices in Mombasa county.

The advance team leader told the media the vessel will be making its maiden call at the port of Mombasa.

Constanza, who was accompanied by Briba Sumalia and Nicolas Civilotti, confirmed the vessel will be open to members of the public from August 23 to October 3 with a selection of 5,000 different book titles.

She added the vessel will be open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday during the period it is at the port.

“The vessel has 300 volunteers  from different countries,” she disclosed.
