Former Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha is dead.

The family confirmed his passing on on Tuesday evening from what they said was due to a cardiac arrest.

“It is with great regret that we announce the sudden and untimely demise of Prof George Magoha this evening at the Nairobi Hospital.

“Magoha collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital’s accident and emergency. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Kindly join me in condoling with his family,” Nyamongo announced.

The Nairobi Hospital released a press statement saying that he was rushed to the facility after he got unconcious at his home. He passed on shortly after getting admitted.

His body has since been moved to Lee Funeral Home.

Several leaders sent their message of condolences to the family after learning of the former CS’s demise.

President William Ruto described Magoha as a dedicated servant whose services to the nation will be missed adding that Magoha was a ‘big tree’ that had fallen.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga said;

‘I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. George Magoha, a transformational leader, illustrious scholar, dedicated public servant, and distinguished medical doctor who left an indelible mark on our country’s education system. We will remember him for his incredible intellect, wit, and ability to inspire and challenge us to do our best. My condolences go out to his family and colleagues. May he Rest In Eternal Peace.’

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi offered that;

I have received the death of Prof. George Magoha, with utter surprise and shock. The late Prof. Magoha will be remembered as a staunch believer in self-actualization.

He took to his tasks with gusto and a single-minded determination that’s rare. Many will recall his iron-clad grip on the University of Nairobi as Vice-chancellor, and lately as Cabinet Secretary for Education. God rest his soul in eternal peace.’

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said;

REST IN POWER PROFESSOR.

‘Grief is just love with no place to go.You will be with whom you love Professor.To Him we belong and to Him we return.”Babu you are tried and tested and you can be anything in this country.Go and save this country.”That’s what you told me Prof when I graduated from the University Of Nairobi.You were the ONLY BEST DECISION Uhuru Kenyatta made during his tenure.’

Several other leaders have since sent their condolences.

Magoha is survived by his wife Dr Barbra Magoha and his son Dr Michael Magoha.

His death comes barely a week after his appointment as a lecturer of medical surgery at the Maseno University School of medicine.
