Government Says Ksh1.4 Trillion Invested In Projects at the Coast

The government has allocated Sh 1.4 trillion for development projects in the coast region during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration before his tenure comes to an end.
Government spokesperson Col [Rtd] Cyrus Oguna said the government has been able to invest Sh 1.4 trillion in the region to fund several projects.
He acknowledged the construction work on the proposed Ronald Ngala Utalii College was faced with teething problems but added that the government has been able to overcome them.
“The challenges on the project are normal but the government has sorted them out,” he pointed out.
Oguna pointed out the Sh 4.9 billion project which is sitting on 59 acres of land in Vipingo, Kilifi county, has been scaled down and it is on course.
He spoke during a weekly media briefing held at Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.
The government spokesperson refuted claims the project has stalled pointing out that construction work at the site is in progress.
Oguna, who was flanked byCoast Regional Commissioner John Elungata, pointed out that on completion the project will provide training in the hospitality industry in the region.
Elungata said the government is ready to take journalists on a fact finding mission at the facility to dispel the propaganda against the project.
He added the project which is being handled by the tourism fund has taken shape with the installation of equipments underway.
“The flagship project is not a white elephant project and we are ready to take you for an inspection of the facility,” he said.Loading…
