Governor Mutua says youth unemployment in coast a major reason for worry

Lack of employment among youths is an impediment to development in the country.

Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party leader Alfred Nganga Mutua said despite being educated the youth do not get employment.

He said the lack of circulation of the currency has contributed to the unemployment problem in the county.

“The country is faced with perennial challenges with politics taking center-stage ahead of the next polls,” he pointed out.

Mutua said the perennial challenges facing the country are similar within the 47 counties and lashed out at politicians who are campaigning instead of initiating development projects.

He spoke at Tamarind beach hotel in Mombasa County.

Mutua, who is Machakos governor, later conducted a meet the people tour in the county.

The MCC party leader said there are more problems that need to be tackled than the frequent talk of a handshake between two leaders from the elite class.

Mutua cautioned the electorate to tread carefully with the handshake formula ahead of the 2022 general elections.

He cautioned that the shaking of hands when the country is heading for an election has a hidden agenda as there are under the table deals.

“The handshake has been a political gimmick whenever general elections are approaching,” he said.

The governor said his mission in the region is to popularize the party ahead of the 2022 general election to form the next government.

Mutua told journalists the electorate is tired of leaders in the country who make empty promises which they later fail to fulfill.

He announced he has come with a forum where he will listen to the electorate’s grievances ahead of the 2022 polls.

The MCC party leader assured journalists the forum will enable him to know what Kenyans are undergoing when he is preparing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when his tenure comes to an end after serving his second term.

Mutua called for proper scrutiny of the handshake which emerges every five years since the Jubilee party ascended to leadership.
