Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Mombasa chapter has challenged the government taking over from  president Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration to come up with policy to ensure a conducive environment for the business community.

KNCCI county member of the board of directors Geoffrey Samora said he expects after the dust settles following the just concluded general election the incoming government will come up with a policy to esure a good environment for business.

“We expect to see Dongo Kundu and the construction of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project are working to create employment opportunities to county residents,” he pointed out.

He was speaking during a media briefing at the chambers of commerce county offices in Mombasa county.
The KNCCI county member of the board of directors asked the government to ensure businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are opened.

Samora urged the incoming government to involve the business community in decision making to move in tandem with national development.

He told both the national and county governments to do away with policy which lacked stakeholders’ input to be able to chart the way forward.

“The move to involve stakeholders in making policies will spur growth in business in the country at large,” he pointed out.

On his part, the KNCCI Mombasa chapter member of the board of directors Hassan Meghji assured both the national and county governments they will prosper.

He further assured both governments of their support and promised to work closely with them.
