KNUT Executive applauds Governor Lusaka’s Chief Officers nominees

KNUT Executive Secretary Mt. Elgon Sub County branch Stephen Chemonges has on Wednesday applauded Bungoma County governor Kenneth Lusaka for considering the Sabaot community among his nominees.


While addressing press shortly after the governor released his list,Chemonges thanked Lusaka for giving Mt. Elgon 2 positions.


“We’re grateful for the appointments of Nicholas Kiboi as Chief Officer for Education and former Kaptama MCA Peter Cherui as Deputy Director for Special Program,” commented Chemonges.


The principal said that the education sector is now in good hands and parents should only pay their part in supporting students achieve their goals.


“Kiboi is a force to reckon with in matters education especially now that he’ll be heading Early Child Education and Vocational institutions,” he added.


Chemonges further mentioned the appointments as a milestone to Mt.Elgon community and urged the governor to equitably consider Kaptama, Kopsiro, Kapsokwony and Cheptais regions in his subsequent appointments.


He further divulged that the governor has disbursed Ksh.70 Million to schools to cater for students who were enrolled in the scholarship programs.


“Deputy Governor Mbatiany has played a big role between the education sector and the county government and we urge her to keep that spirit for the betterment of our children,” noted Chemonges.


The list of nominees are yet to be presented to the County Assembly for vetting.
