KPA recognizes the significance of giving back to society

One of Kenya Ports Authority’s [KPA] primary core responsibilities is to interact with those suffering in caring for orphans.
KPA acting Managing Director John Mwangemi said they also focus to interact with vulnerable children.
He added this is referred to as the Orphan Vulnerable Children [OVC] sector in community development circles.
“This brings us to one of the fundamental values in our organization which is care,” he said.
Mwangemi reiterated they strive to be a caring and responsible organization by giving back to the county through Corporate Social Investments [CSI] program.
The remarks were contained in a speech read on his behaif by KPA principal corporate officer Haji Masemo during food donation to the Island Muslim Girls’ Orphanage and home in Nyali constituency, Mombasa County. KPA donated food worth Sh 400,000 to the orphanage home.
The KPA MD said they will continue to support the social protection ministry to mainstream and improve livehoods and support orphanage institutions.
Mwangemi disclosed rececenlty the authority handed over a public-owned safe house to serve survivors of Gender Based Violence [GBV]
He said the safe house offers protection and housing to survours, treatment and psychological support.
“This include psychosocial counseling and support to the survivors,” he pointed out.
