Nandwa went missing on October 28, shortly after reporting the disappearance of his client, Elgive Bwire, a jailed terrorist who had just been released from prison.

The Law Society of Kenya(LSK) had raised alarm over Nadwa’s disappearance terming it as a threat to the Bill of Rights.

LSK CEO Mercy Wambua said such abductions and enforced disappearances continue to pose a grave danger to the security of Advocates in the course of their work adding that lawyers have a duty to take up all forms of legal cases without discrimination.

“It is clear that Prof Nandwa was abducted in the course of his professional work. We, therefore, demand his immediate release together with his client,” she said

Top Muslim officials had also called upon the government to help find Nandwa and his client Bwire.

Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims Chairman Hassan Ole Naado decried that police had resorted to profiling and targeting Muslim leaders in the fight against terror.

“The state should investigate this matter and ensure constitutional rights of every citizen, regardless of their religious background are upheld,” Naado said.

Nandwa’s client, Bwire is still missing. Bwire has been in jail for 10 years over terror related charges and was allegedly picked up by unknown gunmen under mysterious circumstances after his release.
