Mombasa Club Vice Chair Assumes Chairmanship’s Role

Mombasa golf club vice chairman Paul Munyao has been elevated to the position of chairman.

Munyao takes over from Ken Mwangi who served as the club’s chairman of the board for the past three years.

During the club’s Annual General Meeting [AGM] held on Monday evening along the Mama Ngina Waterfront Munyao was elected chairman unopposed.

The club’s electoral board headed by Munyao’s predecessor conducted the club board members’ election.

Munyao had served as the club’s secretary and as the newly created vice chairman’s post before rising to the position of chairman.

Former club captain Lawrence Odhiambo makes a come to take up the position of the club’s vice chairman.

Odhiambo is the second holder of the position after being elected unopposed with the first holder becoming the new chairman.

The club captain James Gitonga retained his position after being elected unopposed to serve in the position for the next one year.

Amos Mbubi also retained his position as treasurer after being elected unopposed to serve for the next one year.

Clifford Tolo was able also retain his position as club secretary after being  elected unopposed to serve for the next one year.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) officer Fiona Mbadi was elected unopposed as the club’s lady captain. She succeeds veteran golf player Gladys Kasi.

Committee members of the board elected were Fidelis Odumo, Biadi Sharbad and John Koech.

In his acceptance speech Munyao said after serving under his predecessor at the club his priority on the irrigation project won’t change.

He insisted the completion of the irrigation project will remain his priority.

The key focus of the club’s board members is the second phase of the irrigation project to ensure sustainable source of water for irrigation.
