More personnel deployed in ongoing exhumation exercise

The government has deployed more personnel in the ongoing exhumation exercise being carried out at the Shakahola massacre scene of crime in Kilifi county.

Interior cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced the government has commenced airborne search within the vicinity of the controversial 800 acre parcel of land owned by controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie of Good News international church.

He added the airborne search has been extended to Chakama ranch which is estimated to be 50 acres in size in the rescue mission.

“In additional with the ongoing land search the government will commence airborne search and technology aimed at expediating the search and rescue mission,” he pointed out.

Kindiki pointed out both the air and ground teams will be able to save lives in the area of the incident.

He was addressing the media at the junction and meeting of the controversial Shakahola forest in Malindi Sub-County in Kiilifi county.

The CS regretted rains have disrupted the ongoing exhumation at the scene of crime.

Kindiki, who was accompanied by Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, told the media the experts have advised the government that the process of the exhumation process is sensitive and the ground should not be interfered with.

He added the ground must be dry to a certain level to allow the exhumation without interfering with the bodies.
