Nairobi City County Environment team has embarked on cleaning overgrown bushes, weeding, litter picking, slashing, edge trimming, grass trimming/ mowing, and levelling of undulated grounds at the Langata Cemetery.

Said Nairobi Governor Sakaja, “I issued a directive to the environment team to clear and make the Cemetery tidy. We must ensure we provide dignity to all, including the departed”.

The environment sector and public health sector team undertook the work over the weekend.

Langata cemetry looked unkempt due to poor maintenance over the years. This is the first time the environment sector has been requested to assist. There are overgrown vegetation everywhere, dilapidated roads, and poor signage.

“The team is working very hard to improve this environment and will continue to do so. We will continue maintaining this cemetery as we strive to ensure Nairobi is clean,” he added.
