The National Integrated TVET Communications and Advocacy Committees have been inaugurated.

This is in line with Sustainable Development Goal No. 4, which seeks to guarantee inclusive and equitable quality education and promote opportunities for lifelong learning for all.

The strategy aims at making sure that no youth will perceive any excuse for not having a TVET skill if they have no tertiary education and training.

The strategy has now been finalised and the State Department for TVET has set up a steering and technical committee for its implementation.

Speaking at the inauguration, Principal Secretary, State Department of TVETs, Esther Mworia said the overall goal for the committees was to have in place a single-referral document that provides a roadmap for ensuring effective TVET communication at all engagement levels.

“In providing a framework for action, National Communication and Advocacy Committees connects and mobilizes key stakeholders around the common need to rebrand and reposition TVETs in Kenya,” she said.

All partners and stakeholders in TVETs were encouraged to adopt this committes as a tool to guide communication activities to realize quality, relevance, equity and accessibility to Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Kenya.

The Ministry of Education is committed to equip all TVET institutions to empower the youth with skills relevant to the needs of the industry and society.

For over one year, TVET education stakeholders have been working on a National TVET integrated
Communication and Advocacy Strategy.
