Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has announced the process of completing Chemoge’s High Altitude Training Centre.

Speaking at her office on Thursday  during a courtesy call meeting with Diana Khisa, a second year student at Kibabii University, who recently represented team Kenya athletics at the East African Regional Championship in Tanzania ;(scooping a Gold medal in 100M and Silver in 200M), Mbatiany congratulated the young athlete, lauding her great contribution and raising the Kenyan flag high.

“I am super proud of you, keep the zeal, resilience and passion and you will soar to greater heights like the many celebrated brands,” Mbatiany commented.

She also challenged youth who have talents to come out and stand to be counted since all the renowned stars began from somewhere.

Mbatiany stated the County Government’s commitment in fast tracking the completion of the Chemoge High Altitude Training Centre, in league with  Governor Lusaka’s manifesto on nurturing talents across Bungoma.

“We are passionate about empowering our youths and tapping talents of the many athletes who hail from Bungoma region; governor Lusaka is on course, hastening the completion of the Sh 300 Million Mt Elgon High Altitude Training Centre he begun putting up in 2014,”she reiterated.

She observed that the completion of the training camp project will boost morale and dreams of upcoming athletes who are currently  forced to train in Iten, Elgeiyo Marakwet County.

“This project is aimed at nurturing the skills of local athletes and others across the world who will come to camp and train in the region because of favorable climate and altitude in the area,”Mbatiany noted.

The principal further noted that the High Altitude Training Centre in Kaptama will  offer employment to Bungoma residents and also revamp the economy of the area when athletes, especially from abroad, camp at the facility.

The facility has many rooms and a hotel that will adequately cater for athletes’ needs.
