NLC official murder Suspect detained by court

Peter Njenga, alias Sankale a murder suspect of slain NLC official Wambua is being held custody at Muthaiga police station pending forensic examination that could help in the murder probe.
This is after police obtained court orders from a Kiambu Court to detain Sankale who is the third suspect in the murder case of Jennifer Wambua a National Land Commission (NLC) official.
The suspect is being held for 14 days to facilitate investigations into the homicide.
Peter Njenga was arrested on 9th April 2021 after police found him in possession of significant information that could help apprehend miss Wambua’s Killers.
A miscellaneous application number E153 of 2021 that was sworn by Police Constable Vincent Langat and various exhibits including, mobile phones were recovered and forwarded to the relevant experts for forensic analysis.
Langat told Kiambu Chief Magistrate Ms. Patricia Gichohi during a proceeding that the sleuths in the homicide case were awaiting DNA analysis from the Government Chemist for comparison with those of suspects being held over the murder.
A report by the cyber-crime expert in relation to the mobile phone handset recovered from the suspect during his arrest, established that the mobile handset belonged to the deceased.
The suspect had been identified and picked by a witness in Muthaiga Police station where he was implicated of being part of a gang that rapes and robs victims while armed with a machete.
The affidavit further states that Njenga’s criminal profile data record indicates that the suspect had previous pending criminal records including rape, stealing and robbery with violence.
PC Langat said that Investigations hadn’t been complete in the previous 14 days granted because the DNA test sent to Government chemist is expected to be ready by April 30th 2021.
He therefore had requested the court to grant him 14 more days to finalize the investigations.
Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi set the mention date on 10th May 2021.
Benjamin Saitoti and David Sempan who are also suspects in the murder case were arraigned before court on April 23rd 2021 and were detained in police station for 10 days amid investigations
