ROTARY DISTRICT 9212 Calls On Govt To Provide Free Medical Cover To Persons With Disabilities

Members of Rotary District 9212 (comprising Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea) will host 6,000
children with special needs, on March 4 th , 2023, at Jamhuri Showgrounds, Nairobi.


Sunshine Rally is an annual event, started in 1979 by Philanthropist and Rotarian, Dr. Manu Chandaria. This is the 41 st edition of Sunshine rally. The rally has grown each year and this is the first time it is being devolved outside Nairobi County to Kirinyaga and Kisii counties. Sunshine 2023 rally will be graced by Nominated Senator for Persons living with disabilities, Hon. Crystal Asige.


Sunshine Rally Chair, Saum Siraj, “We are happy to be back with the Sunshine Rally since the last pre-covid one in 2019. This year we are partnering with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities who will conduct a mass registration exercise. Parents should carry a birth certificate, identity card and a medical report to register minors and those over 18 years. We have lined up fun activities for the children like entertainment with surprise visits from celebrities, in addition to food and gifts.


Sunshine rally presents an opportunity to create awareness and amplify issues requiring urgent attention. Rotary would like to call on the Government of Kenya through National Health Insurance Fund, to provide free medical cover to Kenyans with disabilities.
