Security expert wins golf tournament

A Securicor firm chief executive officer [CEO] posted 44 points to register her first golf victory this year played at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa county.

Gladys Mueni beat 220 golfers to be crowned the overall winner during the 2023 club chairman prize tournament playing off 23 handicap.

She managed to score 22 points on both the first and second nine holes before being crowned the overall winner.

The one-day tournament was played under new club officials through the stewardship of Kamami Njoroge and graced by media personality Betty Kyallo who presided over the prize-giving ceremony.

Joseph Kaguru won in the men’s category after posting 42 points playing off 24 handicap and the men’s runners-up award went to Kailesh Chauhan after posting 41 points on count back while George Githinji won the third slot after posting  41 points playing off 10 handicap.

The well-attended one-day golf tournament saw veteran golfer Mary Kandu, playing wonderfully off 13 handicap, winning the ladies’ title with 39 points on count back.

Mombasa-based counsel Provia Odhiambo won the ladies’ runners-up title after she posted 39 points playing off  20 handicap.

Faried Ismail won the tournament’s best senior award playing off 16 handicap after posting 38 points while Tony  Gachau playing on 34 handicap won the best junior award with 40 points.
