Bonchari MP by-election aspirant eyes Presidency in future.

The New Democrat’s Onkendi Jonah Ondieki has plans to use the Legislative seat he is vying to ascend him to the higher office in the country saying he won’t stagnate as a member of parliament if elected.

Being his first time to be on the ballot, Mr. Onkendi rubbished the narrative of ‘clearing the way’ as many term it for first time aspirants saying he is determined to win the seat considering his support and numbers he enjoys in the constituency.

Speaking at his home when he met officials and members of Kerina United Football Club, Nyanza Region League Zone “A” participants, He promised to continue identifying and supporting the growing talents in the community as he has previously done with the club being one of his beneficiaries.

He also promised once elected, he will lobby various national and international organizations to build a Multi-Sports Centre in Bonchari to foster sports activities in the area.

On why he has not published his manifesto to his constituents, the youthful aspirant said that clan seem in the area has curtailed the importance of any aspirant seeking to be elected to formulate manifestos. Mr. Onkendi said instead he already has a nine-point agenda to sell to his electorates which he hopes will bring him out the best amongst the 13 contestants in the by-election.

The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has so far cleared 13 Candidates for the Bonchari by-election which is slated for May 18th this year.

Other Candidates included ODM’s Pavel Oimeke, the Late John Oyioka’s widow Teresa Bitutu of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Kevin Mosomi of Party of Democracy and Unity (PDU), Victor Omanwa of Party of Economic Democracy (PED), Charles Mogaka of Progressive Party of Kenya (PPK), Paul Matagaro of Mwangaza Tu Party, National Reconstruction Alliance’s candidate, Eric Oigo, Maendeleo Chap Chap’s Margaret Nyabuto and Jeremiah Atancha of Agano Party.

The seat fell vacant on February 15 this year following the demise of MP John Oroo Oyioka who succumbed to a long illness.
