Chief Officers Nominees Pledge to Revamp the City if Vetted, Approved by Nairobi MCAs

The Nairobi Chief Officer nominees have revealed their plans to change the face of the City if they will be approved to work in various positions at City Hall.

The chief officer nominee for social service George Mutiso said he will rehabilitate the street families, educate them and possibly rejoin them with their families.

“We are going to work with the staffs, the county executive committee members and the MCAs to have a seamless functioning. We will collaborate with other counties to solve this common issue of street families,” said Mutiso.

He said he will focus on mainstreaming gender-based violence victims and provide enough safe houses as a long-term plan.

“Equal opportunities will be unveiled for persons living with disabilities. Some of the buildings in the City are not compliant to the county Acts; buildings with no ramps and lifts will have to be renovated and made accessible by PWDs,” he added.

The youth, talent and sports nominee Oscar Mafunga Igaida vowed to work with the MCAs to ensure adequate allocation of of resources to the sector.

“The county will partner with former professional players such as Dennis Oliech, McDonald Mariga among others to empower the youth in sports. I will employ strategies such as inter sub-counties tournaments after renovating county stadiums to national standards,” Mafunga told the MCAs during vetting at City Hall.

Mafunga who has a wealth of experience in the department said when he joined AFC Leopards football club, it improved performance.
