Dr. Eric Kipkoech Mutai, is just inches away to clinching the Kericho gubernatorial seat.

The humble man with a heart of gold, was handed his nomination certificate yesterday at the Hustler Center.

His top agenda is agriculture and addressing journalists, he said: “Kericho, with the abundance of rain and arable land, has the potential to produce a host of food and cash crops that significantly contribute to our rural economy.

My vision is to transform the sector beyond agriculture to agribusiness for livelihood improvement. I commit to employing extension officers for guaranteed extension services, subsidising farm input, ensuring aggregation and warehousing of products and providing market linkages for produce for increased prices.”

Born and bred in Kericho county, Dr Mutai believes he has what it takes to take Kericho to the next level.

“I currently serve as a Senior Lecturer at Embu University alongside other roles such as the Chairmanship of my department. I am continuously involved in community activities and in the past I have served as the director of in-service training programmes at Kipsigis Teachers College, served in the boards of schools such as Kapkarin and Rugut Secondary Schools, and been involved in environmental conservation activities,” he said.

To demonstrate the level of confidence the people of Kericho have in him, two aspirants of high standing recently shelved their Gubernatorial bid to support the visionary Dr Mutai.

He also sent home former CS Charles Keter who had been seen as the biggest threat.
