Tea farmers have been urged to undergo vaccination due to the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kenya Tea Development Agency [Holdings] Ltd chairman David Muni Ichoho encouraged farmers to ensure they get vaccinated to avert the spread of the deadly virus which has spread into communities.

He pointed out that according to a health DATA report on the pandemic the virus is spreading faster within the communities.

“Let the stakeholders take advantage of the government mass vaccination exercise,” he pointed out.

Ichoho said the disease should be of great concern to farmers and they should take measures to stop its spread.

He spoke during the closing ceremony of a one week induction and corporate governance training for directors from the organization held at Travelers beach hotel in Nyali constituency, Mombasa county.

The KTDA chairman reminded the forum they want to ensure the stakeholders training is in line with the health ministry guideline on measures to contain the spread of the menace.

Ichoho said it’s important for the stakeholders to take seriously the health protocol against the spread of the pandemic and take appropriate action.

He added they should take the health guideline as directed by the government seriously to assist in the prevention of the spread of the pandemic.

“There is urgent need for farmers to get protection against the spread of the menace,” he pointed out.

The KTDA boss asked farmers to participate in other economic activities apart from tea farming alone.

Ichoho challenged them to participate mainly in avocado, tea, fruits farming and all forms of livestock farming to enable they get a more stable income to be able to move forward.
